Some of the Features of the New iPhone 5
Although there have been several discordant reports in regards to the release date of the iPhone 5, there has been leaks and several speculations concerning how the iPhone 5 will look and the features that it will have.
Listed below are some of the features that experts say the new iPhone 5 will have when it is released in September of this year, or early in 2012.
- Edge-to-Edge Display – Ever since the announcement of the iPhone 5, there has been speculation that the device will boast an edge-to-edge display. This speculation gained credibility when there was a leak of what the actual device will look like. There have been several sources that have leaked pictures of what the iPhone 5 will look like. If these images are authentic, then the new iPhone 5 will boast a four inch display in the same encasement, which will extend display over the phone’s edges.
- 8MP Camera with Enhanced Flash – Another conclusion that many experts have come to in regards to the iPhone 5 is that it will have an 8MP camera. The 8MP camera that the iPhone 5 will have will enable it to stand among its major competitor, Android. This statement may infuriate many dedicated Apple fans, as there are a large number or persons who believe that the Apple iPhone is the real deal and that Android phone are just impostors. Whatever the case may be, it seems that the 8MP on the new iPhone 5 is a done deal, and that it will have an enhanced flash which is an improvement from the LED flash on the iPhone 4.
- NFC Enabled iPhone 5 – Since early 2011, there have been reports that Apple has been testing the iPhone 5 with the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. The NFC technology will allow persons to use their iPhone 5 to make payments, by simply waving their phone over the devices that are able to read the information stored on the phone. If Apple chooses to use the NFC technology on the iPhone 5, this will push them to the top of the leader board. Mobile payment services that utilize the NFC technology will be very popular in the future; per contra, there first needs to be a wider integration of the NFC technology in the technology world.
- Curved Glass Display – In May, the DigiTimes reported that Apple had placed an order for glass cutting devices which are able of creating glass covers that are curved. Since then, there have been numerous speculations that the iPhone 5 will feature a curved glass display.
- Screen Measuring 3.7 Inches – To counter the large screens used on Android phones, speculations are that the new iPhone 5 will boast a larger screen that measures 3.7 inches.
- Fireproof iPhone 5 – It has also been speculated that the new iPhone to be released by Apple will be fireproof. This is particularly due to the fact that Apple has filed for a patent application for an advanced flame retardant material that is halogen free. This application may also be used in future products developed by Apple. Apple has reported that this patented material will be used in the making of Apple devices such as cabling, the iPad, iPods, the Apple mouse, keyboards and several other products.
- 4G LTE iPhone 5 – The hacking group LulzSec leaked AT&T documents that suggest that not only will the new iPhone 5 provide customers with 4G, but it will also be compatible with the LTE network. Long Term Evolution (LTE), is a project that has been undertaken by 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), and it is also the most recent standard in the mobile network technology. There are a number of mobile companies worldwide that have plans of converting their networks to LTE (4G).
